Payday: The Heist - Review
Payday is truly a unique and pioneer of a maybe great genre to come, robbing banks and making a loud noise while doing it! Payday The Heist lets you become a professional vigilante with a team of highly deadly criminals with you. Now these guys aren’t your average burglars or crooks, no, they mean business, doing seemingly impossible acts of illegal robberies with the help of contacts and fellow crooks willing to do anything to get their hands on more cash as each day goes by.
Payday The Heist gives you a different experience in first person shooters, with challenging heists and waves upon waves of police forces trying to put a stop to your rampage. You are able to play single player, but really, the AI for your team is not worth the suffering and multiplayer is easily the main aspect of this game. Your group consists of four different bad guys, with you being one of the characters and your teammates being the others. As you participate in heists, your character evolves and you gain experience, which unlocks weapons and perks to be used in your future heists. At times I found myself getting a little bored and frustrated at some of the repetitive heists, and some of the glitches and bugs that left me wondering… what is that cop doing to that unfortunate wall? Payday does however deliver a decent graphical experience, with high security banks, to the peaceful hospitals and their hallways. There are some textures that do glitch from time to time, but I think it’s more to do with my PC than the graphics of the actual game.. Unfortunately for my poor pc. You and your bunch of criminal friends have clown masks to hide their identity, instead of the more traditional balaclava. Waves upon waves of different and increasingly difficult cops descend upon you and your group to try and put a stop to your heist, and attempt to save as many hostages as they can. As you fight your way through waves of law enforcement and complete objectives necessary for the heist, you must also restrain from killing civilians as an additional objective.
Hostages and Civilians screaming, your crew giving out commands, with the cops yelling out orders to their fellow comrades makes it really exciting and gives the game an intense atmosphere that it deserves. I did notice the gunfire could be a lot more diverse and fleshed out without hearing the same burst of fire from pretty much every gun on the field. Hostages and Civilians screaming with the cops yelling out commands does make it really exciting and gives the game an intense atmosphere that it rightfully deserves.
Payday The Heist isn’t the most enjoyable game out there, and it certainly isn’t my most played game, with some flaws around the table, but for the price and the addictive multiplayer, it does deliver a fun game if in need of some FPS action. |
