Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare - Review
The Call of Duty franchise has always made a big impression on the world of gaming and to this day it still does. But I’d thought I’d take a little trip down memory lane and review the first modern warfare that made it all possible.
Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare places you on the battlefield of a more advanced time period then previous titles. Introducing UAV’s, powerful weaponry, superior airsupport, and a ton of new technologic advances. The game is focused on FPS standards and gamers with experience of earlier Call of Duty’s will be right at home from the very start. There are some really exciting and memorable moments in the campaign, with you playing as an American Marine, and a British SAS commando. Through the story you will be switched between the two in order to progress and unravel the story. The campaign was really enjoyable and gave me the same magical feel as the previous campaigns that were set out by the franchise. There were some technical issues in terms of AI behavior and at times felt a little too easy unless the difficulty was pressed a little higher. The health system of Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare also incorporates a new way of surviving in the battlefield. Instead of having to go around and find health packs to restore your health you must instead take cover and regain your health by staying out of harm’s way. I really embraced this new system and liked the way it played out, although, it’s not the most forgiving when in an insane fire fight.
Multiplayer is probably the biggest highlight of this game, with classes, perks and everything else to keep you addicted and glued to the screen. As you duke it out with other enemy players, there are a range of game modes that include Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, and many other modes. Multiplayer is incredibly fast paced and in order to succeed, requires a great amount of reflexes and speed in order to make them lightning fast reactions that will power over your opposition. As you complete matches, get kill streaks, and all that other cool stuff, you gain experience that allows you to unlock weapons, weapon attachments, and perks. There are a wide range of different weapons to pick from and once you feel you’ve made the right choice, it’s time to add some handy attachments. Attachments that can be unlocked are things like the Red Dot site, which allows you to aim more proficiently and with accuracy, handgrips, which allow you to shoot with a lot less recoil, and a lot more the game has to offer. Textures and scenery goes a long way in Call of Duty, making the world look fantastic and well developed, yet always running smoothly. Water and shadows seem to flow fluently and realistically, giving the game an edge graphics wise. The soundtrack sets the mood pretty well in my opinion, and gives it a unique and diverse experience in certain situations throughout the game. Sounds of gunfire and bullets flying past gives the player a memorable time in the midst of battle and gives you the sense of being in a massive fire fight with intense play.
Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare is indeed a classic, with stunning visuals, very enjoyable gameplay, an in depth multiplayer system, and much, much more. So what are you waiting for? Check out the game that made all your favorite Modern Warfare titles you see in stores possible. |
